Midleton Main Street Urban Design Project

Midleton, Co.Cork.

RKA was part of the design team with Cork County Council Architect's Department for this award winning project. The works included the upgrading of the footpath/parking bays on the Main Street. This scheme facilitated a high standard of pedestrian accessibility for the disabled, visually impaired and the general public which was achieved by means of tactile surfaces, delineation markings, dropped kerbs, pedestrian crossings and suitable surfaces for wheel chair users.

The Main Street environment was enhanced by improving the standard of street lighting, use of high quality natural stone paved surfaces, and the designated pedestrian relief zones.
